Perrelet unveils new Weekend Malachite

Launched in 2017, the Weekend collection was conceived by Perrelet as a refined expression of classic and minimalist watchmaking, offering an alternative to the brand’s emblematic Turbine and Double Rotor lines. Designed to meet the expectations of a wider audience, it features a meticulously proportioned 39 mm stainless-steel case, combining elegance, versatility, and contemporary wearability.

ince its launch, the collection has been available in time-only and date, GMT, and open-heart configurations with a visible balance wheel, and has met with positive reception since inception, leading to the development of multiple interpretations over time.

Conventional dials in colours such as silver, black, blue or anthracite were initially offered with it, but it has evolved over time to adapt to contemporary fashion trends by daring to use bright and vibrant colours.

The year 2025 marks a new chapter in the collection’s story, with the introduction of its first hard-stone dial in the time-only execution: the Weekend Aventurine.

Building on the success of this creation, the Swiss Maison continues its exploration of the natural beauty of stones with the unveiling of the new Weekend Malachite.

Distinguished by its vibrant hues, which range from light to deep green, and by its ever-changing veining, malachite engenders an alluring and aesthetically pleasing visual effect, ensuring that each timepiece tells its own singular and unrepeatable story.

Weekend Malachite is encased in a classic 39 mm round stainless-steel case — a size that achieves the perfect balance between presence and comfort, even on smaller wrists. The slim bezel maximises the visual impact on the dial, and the watch’s refined silhouette is further enhanced by its sleek 9.56 mm profile and polished-satin finish, which plays beautifully with the light. The grooved crown, adorned with the logo in relief, provides an excellent grip and adds a subtle finishing touch.

Water-resistant to 5 ATM, the timepiece reveals its finely decorated movement through a transparent case back secured with six screws, offering a glimpse of Perrelet’s meticulous craftsmanship.

This latest creation is complemented by a soft, ergonomically designed steel bracelet with a folding clasp that ensures exceptional comfort. With seven links per row and an alternating polished and satin finish, the bracelet gives the watch a casual, sporty look.

To elevate its versatility, Weekend Malachite is also delivered with an additional calf leather strap, embossed with an alligator pattern and crafted in the same rich green hue as the malachite dial.

Ideal for more elegant occasions, the leather strap enhances the watch’s refined appeal and fastens to the wrist with a personalised pin buckle. Thanks to the quick-release system, the straps can be effortlessly interchanged, allowing the timepiece to transition from a sporty daytime style to a more sophisticated evening look.

Malachite, a natural semi-precious stone composed of basic copper carbonate, has fascinated people for millennia with its intense green hues, ranging from light to dark, and its unique veining, a result of the stone’s natural tonal variations.

Since as early as 4000 BC, it has symbolised beauty, protection, and creativity. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans used it for jewellery and amulets against the evil eye, as well as in art as a pigment. In Russia, its nickname “green gold” reflects the elegance with which it adorned palaces and churches, from Saint Isaac’s Cathedral to the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg.

Today, Perrelet brings this legend into its watchmaking universe with the new Weekend Malachite. Here, the stone takes centre stage, with the dial becoming the protagonist. Each dial is unique: the natural veining of the malachite forms exclusive patterns, making every watch one-of-a-kind. Its deep green colour captivates the eye, evoking nature and renewal while conveying harmony, vitality, and a sense of inner calm, emotions that are perfectly in tune with the sophisticated elegance of the Weekend collection.

Protected by a sapphire crystal glass, the dial shows rhodium-plated baton hour and minute indices doubled at 12 and 6 o’clock, and refined dauphine-style hands. The date window, located at the 3 o’clock position and framed by a three-dimensional silver profile, features black Arabic numerals on a white background.

The malachite’s organic surface subtly interacts with light, adding depth and character to each timepiece and transforming the simple act of telling the time into a sensory experience. Weekend Malachite is more than just a watch; it is a miniature masterpiece that brings together craftsmanship, elegance and the stone’s timeless allure.

In-house manufacture automatic movement: where precision meets artistry.

Perrelet unveils new Weekend Malachite

The Weekend Malachite is driven by an in-house automatic movement produced by SOPROD, which is part of a distinguished cluster of six Swiss watchmaking companies owned by Spanish entrepreneur Miguel Rodríguez, who also owns Perrelet and the Festina Group. This wealth of craftsmanship and technical excellence guarantees each Perrelet timepiece is a celebration of mechanical artistry.

At the heart of the model beats the Perrelet calibre P-321: a time-and-date movement that operates at 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) and provides a power reserve of 42 hours. Its solid oscillating mass, mounted on ball bearings, ensures perfectly smooth rotation and optimal energy transmission, enhancing accuracy while reducing wear over time, a subtle yet powerful detail that reflects Perrelet’s commitment to precise timekeeping over the long term.

Through the transparent porthole on the rear, the movement becomes a living spectacle: circular-grained bridges, sunray motifs and the Perrelet logo on the open worked oscillating mass invite the eye to explore the meticulous finishing.

With each rotation of the oscillating mass, the invisible energy of motion is transformed into an almost tangible expression of elegance and sophistication, offering a constant reminder of the harmony between technical mastery and aesthetic beauty with every glance at the Weekend Malachite.
