amilton introduces a groundbreaking addition to the beloved Khaki Field collection with the Power Reserve Mechanical 40mm. The watch is the first Hamilton Khaki Field to feature a power reserve indicator directly on the dial. This innovative timepiece honors the heritage design and essential functionality of the Khaki family, the original field watch, while introducing modern features and the latest in watchmaking technology.

Drawing inspiration from classic soldiers’ mechanical watches, the Khaki Field Power Reserve Mechanical maintains the collection’s signature color palette, design direction and rugged aesthetic. The hands are coated with Super-LumiNova® Old Radium for an authentic vintage appearance, while the power reserve indicator at 9 o’clock is highlighted in distinctive red, clearly showing “F” for full and “E” for empty. The dial proudly displays “power reserve 80 hours” to underscore this exceptional and utility-focused feature.

At the heart of this timepiece lies a new manual-winding movement developed by ETA, the leading Swiss movement designer and manufacturer, exclusively for Hamilton. This H-23 caliber allows for the 80-hour power reserve to be visualized directly on the dial, a first for a Khaki Field.

This complication is driven by a differential mechanism, which operates through friction between its internal components. As the differential relies on friction, a strong shock can cause one of its plates to shift relative to the other. This may lead to a desynchronization between the power reserve hand and the actual state of the mainspring barrel. To address this, the movement is fitted with a slipping spring inside the barrel. This allows the system to resynchronize automatically during winding, without requiring intervention or servicing. The slipping spring also ensures that the crown does not reach a hard stop at full wind, protecting the movement from overwinding and improving user comfort. This technical solution ensures both mechanical precision and long-term reliability, even in demanding conditions.

The power reserve function traces its origins to maritime chronometers, where precise timekeeping for navigation required constant awareness of remaining spring tension.

While the case retains the iconic Khaki Field shape, it has been carefully adapted to house the new movement and features a refined sandblasted finish. Available in classic black and white dial options, each watch comes with either a three-row stainless steel bracelet with butterfly clasp or a green NATO strap with brown leather loops. The EasyClick system on the metal bracelet allows for rapid strap changes on the go.

The Khaki Field Power Reserve Mechanical represents Hamilton’s commitment to advancing field watch functionality while honoring our storied field watch heritage. This practical complication offers clear visibility of remaining energy, making it an essential tool for modern adventurers who aim to go further every day.
