his is the story of a dialogue, a conversation between two demanding worlds inhabited by precision, audacity, and obsession with detail. Chronopassion, a watchmaking agitator since 1988, and Arnold & Son, a custodian of British-inspired technical elegance, have created a unique, rare, and spectacular timepiece: the Double Tourbillon “Landscape”, an exercise in style as mechanical as it is mineral.
Two back-to-back tourbillons, suspended in space by mirror-polished gold bridges. Two symmetrical dials in white opal, like two pages turned simultaneously across two time zones. A 43.5 mm white gold case, sculpted to welcome the light. And everywhere, the earthly breath of a “landscape” jasper carefully selected by Chronopassion, whose strata evoke desert reliefs or imaginary panoramas.
The mineral dial becomes a painting, the beige alligator strap an extension of the chromatic harmony, offering a poetic reading of time. The Arnold & Son aesthetic is revealed in a new light, sublimated by Chronopassion’s non-conformist eye.
The Double Tourbillon “Landscape” is more than a visual exercise. Its heart beats for two independent time zones, adjustable down to the minute - a rarity in the world of travel watches. At noon, local time is displayed in Roman numerals. At six o’clock, the reference time is displayed in Arabic numerals. Each dial is autonomous, and each crown is dedicated: at 2 o’clock for winding and setting, at 7 o’clock for the second time zone.
This dual architecture pays homage to John Arnold, a pioneer of marine chronometry, who facilitated the calculation of longitude with his precision watches. In this spirit, this timepiece perpetuates the idea of time being mastered, used, and shared, but never frozen.
At the heart of this creation beats the A&S8513 calibre, entirely developed and hand-decorated by Arnold & Son. It features two gear trains, two barrels for 90 hours of power reserve, and two tourbillons suspended on three-dimensional solid gold bridges, bevelled, polished and satin-finished to perfection.
Every finish - from the radiant Côtes de Genève to the circular graining, from the colimaçonnage of the barrels to the polish of the chatons - is pushed to the limit. The oversized pawl that secures the tension of the barrels is a tribute to expressive mechanics, where the useful becomes ornamental.
As a nod to Chronopassion’s singular universe, this unique piece dares to contrast rigorous watchmaking with mineral inspiration. Landscape jasper, rare and unpredictable, embodies a taste for the exceptional. It transforms this timepiece into a living sculpture, an intimate territory to be explored.
Double Tourbillon ‘Landscape’ is not just a watch. It’s an encounter between two houses driven by the same love of the unusual.
