Horage returns with Tourbillon 2 Meteorite Limited Edition

This strictly limited release of only 25 Meteorite-dialled Tourbillon 2s continues the second chapter of the brand’s tourbillon journey. This exclusive option from its atelier showcases its design and engineering prowess as a vertically integrated manufacture.

T

he Tourbillon 1 in 2020 signified the beginning of a journey for Horage’s most prolific movement development project, the K-Tou hand winding movement. It was a huge success, with its open dial, skeleton style, although some in the community asked for a more traditional, refined dial option.

This led to the introduction of the Tourbillon 2 in 2023, at launch it was offered with two dials, a hand-made-in-Switzerland Grand Feu enamel dial and a deep blue Livre de Durrow-inspired dial along with both premium and precious metal cases to ensure enthusiasts at varying ends of the financial spectrum could find the perfect watch.

Today, Horage presents a third dial option for the Tourbillon 2, with a twist, a stunning Meteorite dial, without the Power Reserve.

As with the previously released Grand Feu and Livre de Durrow design of the Tourbillon 2 reflecting both the past and the future, the new Meteorite option doubles down on this, a rare material, little used in watch dials and valued by collectors and watch aficionados worldwide.

Whether with a contemporary style when mounted in the 904L stainless steel case, or a more traditional look when featured with the yellow gold, one can tailor one’s Tourbillon 2 Meteorite to suit both their budget and taste.

Whilst the watch community share a passion for watches, it is a diverse bunch, so whichever option they choose, they‘ll always get Horage’s passion for quality and design, as the brand never settles for less. It‘s its forever commitment as a modern, technical, performance Swiss watchmaker.

This strictly limited release of only 25 Meteorite dialled Tourbillon 2’s continues the 2nd chapter of its tourbillon journey. A very exclusive option from its atelier, showcasing its design and engineering prowess as a vertically integrated manufacture.

In common with the previous two iterations, the meteorite dial shares the same configuration, with the central hour and minute hands, but the power reserve indication has been removed on this model. Horage carries forward the hand-drawn Arabic numerals and indices, taking muse from watch components and the large flying tourbillon is on display at 6 o’clock. The dial is finished with a detailed seconds track around the aperture, a blued screw on the tourbillon cage acts as a running seconds indicator, the cage rotating once every 60 seconds.

The very wearable 41mm case, with a choice of 3 premium metals to choose from - 904L stainless steel, 18k yellow gold and 18k white gold. The Stainless Steel case features 904L grade which is superior to 316L with respect to corrosion and pitting resistance, also being able to be polished to a richer sheen.

The white gold has a soft lustre, whilst the yellow gold has a rich, warm colouration. A domed sapphire crystal with multiple anti-reflective coatings protects the dial, while a sapphire exhibition case back displays the latest Horage K-TOU tourbillon movement.

Lug width is 22mm and lug-to-lug is 47.8mm.

The 18K yellow and white gold cases are mounted on a black patterned salmon skin leather strap together with a 18K yellow gold or Stainless Steel and micro-adjust carbon fibre deployant clasp. The clasp features 7mm of micro-adjustment. The 904L stainless steel case comes mounted on a sporty 904L stainless steel bracelet with a butterfly clasp.

Horage’s in-house K-TOU Tourbillon movement is a hand-wound calibre that powers all models. It features a lightweight titanium flying tourbillon cage with a silicon escapement and hairspring, 120-hour power reserve (5 days) and a power reserve indicator at 2 o’clock (on certain models). The 5-day power reserve (via one barrel) is a testament to the efficiency of this movement, the tourbillon cage being only 0.29 grams and 3.9mm thick, despite having 43 components. At just 0.29 grams, this titanium cage is one of the lightest in the world and a marvel of micro-mechanical engineering.

The original Tourbillon 1 was a time-only piece without a power reserve indicator and 19 jewels, but the addition of the power reserve complication for the Tourbillon 2 brought the jewel count to 26. The movement beats at 3.5Hz (25,200vph) and this decision is important as it’s more efficient than a 4Hz movement without sacrificing accuracy. In fact, the movement has a chronometer level of accuracy (-4/+6 seconds per day). This beat rate is consistent throughout our entire range of watches and three in-house movements (K1 automatic, K2 micro-rotor and K-TOU toubillon).

Movement finishing includes a black PVD treatment and our signature grid pattern, along with hand brushing. Invented in 1795, the tourbillon brings the balance wheel and escapement together in a rotating cage to counteract the forces of gravity by constantly shifting the position of these regulating elements. This ultimately improves accuracy, particularly back when pocket watches remained static in a pocket. Although hundreds of years old, the tourbillon is still one of the hardest complications to design, manufacture and perfect. Horage is one of the very few independents today to develop an entirely new tourbillon calibre.
