Introducing the Magana's third release “Tribute to Kyoto”

ollowing the success of their inaugural creation, the “Tribute to Fes,” unveiled in April 2023, Magana embarks on its third exploration of cities steeped in heritage. In its debut year, Magana encapsulates the essence of bygone eras, offering wearers a tangible link to the legacies of yesteryears.

At the core of the “Tribute to Kyoto” lies a horological icon that speaks volumes – a complete calendar complication, seamlessly displaying not just the time but also the day, date, and month. Grounded in functionality and refinement, this feature epitomises Magana’s commitment to merging utility with elegance.

Powering the precision of the “Tribute to Kyoto” watch is a resilient and trustworthy Miyota movement sourced from Japan, the same mechanism revered in the previous releases, “Tribute to Fes” & “Tribute to Istanbul”. Recognised across the watchmaking realm for its dependability and efficiency, this movement embodies the brand’s ethos of craftsmanship and distinction.

Limited to a symbolic 212 units – a nod to Morocco’s area code - this timepiece pays homage to the city’s storied heritage and the soulful essence of Japan through the incorporation of vibrant orange hues reminiscent of the Japanese architecture. Beyond its functionality, this watch serves as a bold reminder of time’s fleeting nature, urging wearers to seize life’s thrilling moments and nurture cherished connections amidst the chaos of existence.

“I visited Japan with my family for the sakura season in April of last year, and my daughter Sofia, who fell in love with Kyoto, asked me to try and make a watch that would use the same orange and black colours found in the Fushimi Inari Shrine,” explains Omar Chaoui, Magana’s founder.

Magana’s unwavering commitment to sustainability is echoed in every watch sold. Indeed, the brand pledges to plant 212 trees for each timepiece, contributing to a greener, more sustainable planet through their partnership with “Trees for the Future”, an NGO dedicated to planting 1 billion trees in the Sub-Saharan desert to combat climate change and uplift local communities.
