itizen US is expanding the “Tsuyosa” series with the introduction of a new small second model now available in the market. Merging vintage styling with modern design elements, the look of these new Tsuyosa watches will capture attention with the inset small second dial while creating greater interest and variety to Citizen’s automatic offerings.
The Tsuyosa Small Second models feature a modern integrated-style stainless steel design with dramatic angularity and sweeping chamfers accentuated by a blend of polished and brushed finishing. The crown set on the 4 o’clock position maintains the timepiece’s slim silhouette, while the sleek profile is reinforced by the flat sapphire crystal and either an integrated stainless steel bracelet or an integrated leather strap. Each link of the bracelet is curved to create a mountain-like shape with a blend of polishing and brushing, lending a classical feel to the watch, while the supple feel and subtle grain of the certified Leather Working Group strap afford a more elegant aesthetic.
The meticulously designed dial is offered in three variants: black, blue, and gold. Elevating the collection beyond the simple vintage inspired sport design of the original models, the new dials feature a striking guilloche-like pattern that takes inspiration from designs of the Art Deco period. The intricacy of the dial is balanced by applied baton-style indices and matching hands, all of which feature luminescent fill for exceptional low-light legibility. Lending symmetry and sophistication to the timepiece, the dial features a small seconds display at 6 o’clock in a contrasting silver tone, with a seconds hand matched to the dial colour.
To further enhance the style and versatility of each model, the Tsuyosa Small Seconds series offers interchangeable straps that can easily changed through a quick release mechanism. Available in blue, brown and green leather, sourced by the Leather Working Group, each strap can be purchased separately.
Each timepiece houses the Cal.8322 in-house manufactured automatic movement which boasts 21 jewels, a 21,600 vph beat rate, a stop seconds mechanism, and an impressive 60-hour power reserve. Visible through to a transparent case back, the caliber’s silver-toned bridges, striping, and skeletonised rotor put on a captivating display of mechanical prowess.
