Ikepod bids farewell to Hour Glass with final Megapod gen3

The Hour Glass was famous at Ikepod, when Alexandre Peraldi designed the Megapod’s three hands, dial, and bracelet, and he proposed a portable version of the hourglass design. As the Megapod faces discontinuation, this design becomes the hallmark of its final 100 watches.

n 2024 Ikepod will celebrate its 30th anniversary. Since the beginning watches were produced in limited quantities and often numbered up to 9999 even if not half were produced. Ikepods are rare.

Megapodes 3 hands date gen1 were launched circa 2000 when Ikepod was so famous with a large variety of coloured dials. Later on the Megapode Chrono showed a small plane at the end of the second hand.

Megapod (without e) automatic was launched in 2020. Designed by Alexandre Peraldi the 46mm paid a tribute to the 2000’s Megapode gen1. Proposed in many dial variations these watches are the perfect expression of Ikepod’s DNA.

Back in 2019 when Alexandre Peraldi was asked to design the Megapod, the new owner was sad about the loss of the Hour Glass to the rest of Ikepod. Alexandre said that things must change, that nothing is permanent and that Ikepod should put one on a watch and made a quick sketch....

In 2024 Megapod gen3 will be discontinued and will remain in the catalogue while stock last.

To celebrate the future end of this important watch, the company decided to release a project that Alexandre Peraldi designed in 2020, which was reserved for a farewell. The idea of replacing the seconds hand by an Hour Glass was already there with many other proposal and it was kept for a special series. Some poetry for men. About time flying.

To say a beautiful farewell to Megapod gen3, 100 Megapods equipped with an hourglass-shaped hand will be released. All watches come with a signed certificate explaining how many of the 7 references were made.

Ikepod no longer manufactures expensive Hour Glass but one can be found on the Megapod. It’s like a wink to the recent past of Ikepod.
