Mühle-Glashütte introduces the Summer Models of the 29er Big

The 29er Big is adding an impressive splash of colour with not one but two colour combinations in summery blue and sand shades. This new addition further highlights the nautical inspiration behind the watch and pays tribute to its colourful gennaker sails.

hile sunbathing, paddling and playing in the sand are perfect examples of fun in the sun, this summer season is all about embracing the wind and waves as you sail on the water. As a result, a veritable kaleidoscope of colours is now gracing countless lakes and coastal resorts with its presence. A prime example of this summer palette is the dynamic 29er sailing skiff, in which young sailing talents take to the helm to compete in the Junior Championship Class run by the German Sailing Association (DSV).

Although the general aesthetics of the one-design regatta skiffs are virtually identical, the boats set themselves apart the moment the wind captures their large gennaker sails, revealing an array of different eye-catching colours. As the namesakes of the watch family launched by Nautische Instrumente Mühle-Glashütte in 2006, these colourful 29ers are now inspiring the latest models to join the fleet of timepieces.

This summer, the family company from the German town of Glashütte is setting sail with two new colour combinations for its successful 29er Big: The first model set to make waves features a sand-coloured face complemented by a nautical blue flange. While lifestyle-oriented watch connoisseurs can opt for the attractive corresponding nautical blue canvas strap with a pin buckle, water-loving wearers are sure to love the three-link stainless steel strap with a butterfly clasp. The second vessel to take to the water for team Mühle-Glashütte is characterised by its pacific blue face with a petrol-coloured flange. Its canvas strap adorns the wrist in a sand colour reminiscent of warm golden beaches, while the sporty stainless steel strap is also available for this model.

With their two-tone dials, both new models remain true to the design that has defined this watch family ever since the 29er Zeigerdatum was introduced in 2016. They also share the family characteristics of applied indices, a red second hand and, of course, being reduced down to the essentials in terms of aesthetics. The minute graduation, second numerals and luminescent hour markers of the 29er Big are all located on the flange, meaning that the dial itself only displays the applied indices and the date. With such a well-thought-out design, the model offers clarity at its very best.

Another typical feature of the 29er is its 42.4-millimetre-wide case, which has rapidly established itself as one of the most stunning outfits in the wardrobe of Mühle movements. Its variety of different surface finishes creates a stunning array of light reflections like the sun sparkling in the waves, with the bezel alone featuring both a brushed top surface and finely polished sides.

The case is water-resistant to 10 bars, offering excellent protection for the precise SW 200-1 Mühle version movement on the inside. The automatic movement comes equipped with the efficient Mühle rotor and its shockproof woodpecker neck regulation. This special component facilitates the sensitive regulation in six different positions and ensures accuracy values of between 0 and a maximum of +8 seconds per day. This precision target forms the heart of Mühle’s own regulation standards, which comply with the chronometer standard, and helps to ensure that the watch never runs slow. After all, Mühle-Glashütte’s ultimate priority is making sure that its watches never make their wearers too late.
