Farer launches new 36 mm timepiece in its Three Hand collection

The 36mm Three Hand collection takes everything customers loved about Farer’s original Three Hand watches and puts it into a new case. These watches still offer the same exceptional craftsmanship and vibrant colours as their larger brothers, and they’re powered by the same La Joux-Perret calibre.

O

ne of the cornerstones of the Farer catalogue are its classic Three Hand models which take classic mid-century designs and update them through the use of modern finishing and colour. “Our watch designs have always been for everyone, and whilst 39mm is an excellent well-proportioned size, we know that it might be a bit large for some people’s tastes,” states the brand. This is why Farer has decided to build on this popular range by introducing a new 36mm Three Hand collection, available in four stunning dial options.

The 36mm Three Hand collection takes everything customers loved about Farer’s original Three Hand watches and puts it into a new 36mm case. These watches still offer the same exceptional craftsmanship and vibrant colours as their larger brothers, and they’re powered by the same La Joux-Perret calibre.

In addition to being 36mm across, the new watches are just 10.4mm thick, which makes them ideal for those who value comfort as much as style. The case itself is naturally made from 316L marine-grade stainless steel and features a mix of brushed and polished finishes to strike the perfect balance of smart and casual. To give the collection a vintage touch, we fitted a boxed sapphire crystal that has two layers of anti-reflective coating on its underside.

One of the first things you notice about any Farer watch is its colourful dial, and the 36mm Three Hand collection is no exception to this. Each dial variant offers a feast for the eyes, with a careful use of bold colours and flawless finishes. The result is watches that are not only extremely legible but also incredibly eye-catching. The new collection comprises of four models, each with its own unique dial.

They are:

The Resolute 36mm is the epitome of what Farer stands for. It takes classic design elements and brings them up to date with bold colours and modern manufacturing techniques. Mounted on the pure white gloss dial are twelve numerals fashioned from ice blue Super-LumiNova. These numerals are capped with a matte black finish that not only gives the dial a very high contrast in daylight but also produces a stunning visual effect when the lume lights up in the dark. These numbers are complemented by a matching black syringe handset and a vibrant burnt orange seconds hand.

The Resolute Sorbet takes Farer’s iconic Resolute design to the next level of colour. Numerals fashioned from creamy yellow Super-LumiNova sit on a peach-coloured dial and these are topped with a matte blue finish. The blue syringe handset uses matching yellow lume, and the red sweeping seconds hand provides a bold pop of colour. Protecting the dial is a scratch-resistant boxed sapphire crystal that creates some captivating distortions along the edge of the watch face. All this comes together to make the Resolute Sorbet both playful and practical.

The Erebus Midnight is one of the most refined designs of the Three Hand collection and offers a slightly more formal take on Farer’s design aesthetic. The dial is a rich and glossy midnight blue that makes the perfect background for the applied markers and syringe handset. Both of which are polished to a mirror finish so that they light up when the light hits them. Meanwhile, the minute track provides a subtle burst of colour thanks to the deep red numerals positioned at 5-second intervals.

The Discovery Red is an eye-catching everyday watch. The rich cherry red of the dial is broken up by the use of two different finishes. The centre of the dial is textured with a vertical sunray brushing that completely transforms the colour when the light hits it. The effect of this makes it look like the dial is separated into two parts, which evokes the classic “sector dial” designs seen on vintage watches. This richly coloured dial is set off by applied numerals and a syringe handset that have a mirror polish so that they too pop in the light. Furthermore, both the hands and markers are filled with Super-LumiNova so that they’re legible in the dark. Lastly, the Farer ‘A’ at the tip of the sweeping seconds hand provides a subtle pop of pastel blue.

As with Farer’s 39mm Three Hand collection, the beating heart of the 36mm model is the La Joux-Perret G101. This Swiss automatic calibre has a hacking seconds hand, is adjusted in four positions, and features 24 jewels.

However, the most notable aspect of the G101 is its power reserve, which lasts for a whopping 68 hours. This means that you can take it off Friday evening and it will still be ticking come Monday morning. Just as impressive is the fact that La Joux-Perret achieved this without cutting corners and using a lower beat rate, and the G101 ticks at a smooth 28,800bph (4Hz).
