he Norwegian watch company Bruvik Fine Timepieces, established in 2009 by watch designer Rune Bruvik, is all about the Nordic nature implemented into modern watch design. The micro brand aim for a continuous development and storytelling directly inspired by nature. Hence the slogan: wear a piece of Norway – wear a piece of nature.

In 2014 the first Lady Fjord model was launched, based on the water in the Norwegian fjords. At that time a real water drop from a waterfall that runs into a Norwegian fjord was capsulated into a water capsule in the case back.

The new Lady Fjord N2.0 Reflections of Light is a continuation and a new chapter in the Lady Fjord story, all about the magical lights embracing the Norwegian fjords.

Inspired by the lights and sky that reflects unique light conditions when meeting the surface of the fjords, this was a great task for the designer to transfer and implement into the Lady Fjord reflections of light version.

“The follow up of the first lady fjord model from 2014 was a bit complicated, as I searched for the best possible inspiration for a new version. To design women’s watches is honestly speaking quite challenging, as it is easier to make something I would wear myself that is more masculine. I literally saw the light for this new model, while driving along a fjord during summer 2021, and that gave me an instant inspiration and determination for the new lady fjord model.”

By engraving the dial in a fan shape pattern with glossy front areas, and a base color inviting the lights to reflect in certain color mood, representing five unique weather and seasons, the new Lady Fjord N2.0 was born. The way the dials were made alter the light as soon as it enters the dial surface and twist the lights from surrounding in a magical way. In this way each version will have its own unique reflection of light. The dials are highly readable due to thick layer filling of Swiss SuperLuminova in applied hour indexes and in the brushed hands.

The case is based on the 2014 model in shape but decreased in size from 36mm to 33mm case diameter, and the height went down to 10,5mm due to the absence of the water capsule, and fitted with a two hands quartz movement from Ronda Time. The model comes with a 20mm fit to case three-links steel bracelet with a double folding clasp, for a streamlined bracelet fit. Three of the versions is made in steel/steel and two of the golden versions are bicolor with 10 microns real gold plating on bezel and middle bracelet joint. The model is 200 meters waterproof with a screw lock down crown, sapphire crystal to avoid scratches and multiple layers of antiglare protection om underside for best possible flow of light on dial.

“I realize that for me personally; design, nature and philosophy go hand in hand. I cannot sit on my office desk and draw a new watch from scratch, as the inspiration must come from nature itself and be processed while being in nature. All my designs have always evolved while traveling in nature”

The brand sells to end customers around the world, as this new digital era that have open more possibilities for smaller brands. However, the designer has a vision to be present in more physical shops in the international market.

The brand participated at the BaselWorld fair with a booth already in 2010 until 2015, a place to be to learn from the best according to the designer.

“Entering Hall 1 at BaselWorld 2010 was a two-faced experience; it was a dream to be present with my own designs, but also quite overwhelming to see the force and greatness of the big famous watch brands. I just had to keep focus that we were present to learn, and to get contacts in the industry. The result was a fast-track learning and a lot of great contacts that has led to where we are today as a brand. Now we have the know-how and experience to set up a cooperation with any retailer around the globe and have the ability with direct drop shipment form Switzerland. It takes time to build up a brand, and even more so to build up a brand that can expand in an organic way over time”
