aselworld, 2016. In a rare spare moment in between meetings, the team of Ace Jewelers decided to take a look at the Nomos booth – a brand they’d been secretly admiring for many years. A warm welcome fell their part, and after a pleasant talk (that lasted well into the next meeting), a partnership was quickly cemented. Now Ace and Nomos look back at five fruitful years of working together with the Ace x Nomos Club 36 Limited Edition. It is the sixth Ace x Nomos limited edition - and the most affordable one thus far.

Why the Club 36 to mark this anniversary? Most importantly, the Nomos Club 36 is a true fan-favorite. Nonetheless the classic Club 36 silhouette has rarely been used as a canvas for limited editions, with the last one making an appearance over a decade ago. And whilst it is the most affordable watch in the Nomos collection, it’s still powered by an in-house movement and finished to the high standards typical of the German watchmaking specialists.

The Ace x Nomos Club 36 has a deep blue dial loosely inspired by the corporate colors of Ace Jewelers. Nomos fans may quickly note that the dial has the classic Club layout with alternating Arabic numerals and stick indexes, rather than the Campus-style used on many of the brands latest models. Both the hour markers as well as the five-minute markers are executed in orange, striking a fine balance with the white print of the minute track and small seconds scale.

Quite a few others have followed since, but the Club 36 has remained my go-to choice. To have our own limited edition based on one of my favorite watches is amazing. Especially as we think its classic looks would make it equally at home in Nomos’ regular collection!”

The Ace x Nomos Club 36 is available with either a closed case back or see-through back. The former is the reference 701.S3, made in a limited edition of 50 pieces. For those that prefer a view of the in-house movement there’s the 703.S3, which is made in a run of 100 pieces. Both are water-resistant up to 100 meters, making the Club 36 especially suitable for daily wear be it at the office or the beach.

The Nomos Club 36 is powered by Nomos’ caliber Alpha. This hand-wound movement is manufactured in-house and features a power reserve of 43 hours. It is finished in the typical Glashütte-style. As is now customary with Ace Jewelers’ limited editions, the price remains identical to that of the base model.
