The Blue Hall 2020

In the absence of real-life watch fairs in 2020, with their greetings and handshakes, laughter and controversy, we invite you to browse through our Print Watch Fair special report. Here is our “Blue Hall”, that includes horological creations by Czapek, Breguet, Arnold & Son and Chronoswiss.

1. ANTARCTIQUE COLLECTION by Czapek & Cie

The Blue Hall 2020

Czapek is opening a new chapter in its recent and remarkable venture with a move away from the neo-classicism of its previous timepieces. The Antarctique is a three-hand, simple calendar model in steel with a perfectly structured, built-in bracelet. It is both sporty and elegant, self-winding, robust and water-resistant down to 120m. “An easy-to-wear (40.5mm in diameter and 10.6mm thick) daily banger, whether in town or at a barbecue, or even on the other side of the world,” explains Czapek’s CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel.

The Blue Hall 2020

So, suitable for everyday wear, sporty yet refined, the Antarctique houses a superb movement, the self-winding SXH5.01 calibre with a micro-rotor. COSC-certified, this is the brand’s first in-house movement – a movement that is striking by virtue of its bold architecture of seven open-worked bridges, sandblasted, blackened, satin-brushed and hand-chamfered, evoking in a highly contemporary way the shape of the bridges found in nineteenth-century pocket watches. In this way, Czapek has remained faithful to its historical inspirations. Available with a very beautiful lamé finish in Deep Blue, Black Ink, Burgundy or Secret Alloy. 99 pieces will be produced.

2. CLASSIQUE 7137 by Breguet

The Blue Hall 2020

One of Breguet’s major historic specialities in the field of decoration is the art of grandiose, classic guillochage. In this watch, the traditional technique is used to differentiate, with discretion and sophistication, between the various zones of the watch: a basket-weave motif for the power reserve, checkerboard for the date and a Clous de Paris hobnail motif for the rest of the dial, shown here in the Breguet blue version with a white gold case.

3. GLOBETROTTER NIGHT by Arnold & Son

The Blue Hall 2020

Beneath a large sapphire crystal dome, an arch supports a half-globe depicting the continents, seas and lights of the major cities of the northern hemisphere, (or, on request, the southern hemisphere). Around the edge, a sapphire ring counts out the 24 hours, darkened to indicate the night hours. It’s an astonishing way to pay tribute to John Arnold who, with his marine chronometers, revolutionised ocean navigation in the 1780s.

4. REGULATOR CLASSIC BLUE STEEL by Chronoswiss

The Blue Hall 2020

The regulator display is one of the great specialities of Chronoswiss, which has produced a multitude of variants on the theme. Is this the bluest watch in the world? The steel case, bezel, crown, dial, hands, luminescent material – everything on this Regulator is blue, despite which it remains perfectly legible thanks to the subtle treatment of the decoration. Automatic Chronoswiss calibre with stop seconds.
