Our Q&A with Christophe Musy – Mauron Musy.

Europa Star: What are your strategic priorities for 2023?

Christophe Musy: With the opening of 12 new points of sale, the priority is to consolidate our markets such as the Middle East and Japan. We are putting a lot of energy into helping the stores and distributors to deploy and increase brand awareness. Sales volumes are increasing. This means strengthening our structure and infrastructure, of course. In addition, the construction of our new factory in Saint-Aubin, Switzerland, which we will take possession of in September, comes at the perfect time to celebrate the brand’s 10th anniversary this year.

Which new products or lines will be your main focus this year?

Our team is currently working hard on the new MU06 collection. This watch is equipped with the brand new MM02 micro-rotor calibre. Thanks largely to its 41mm size, our partners were delighted when they saw it at Watches and Wonders, and all markets have ordered it. The first pieces will be delivered in November, but it will be very difficult to fulfil all our orders this year. There is also the HPM1 collaboration with our next-door neighbour, Frédéric Jouvenot. We’re looking forward to the official launch of this timepiece in our new premises!

The emergence of the secondary market represents a major new development. Are you taking any steps to build a presence in preowned?

We’re thinking about it but it’s still a bit early to develop a strategy. For the time, Mauron Musy doesn’t actually have any watches on the secondary market! We are monitoring the situation carefully and have already put some procedures in place to track our products. Resellers can play a major role in this. We need to make them aware of the secondary market and provide them with solutions. If their customers are aware of the possibilities and opportunities for resale, we will have better control.
