Only one minute’s rate drift in five years! Longines presents its new "VHP (Very High Precision) model fitted with a movement whose 32 KHz quartz is served by a thermometer quartz vibrating at 262,144 Hz which monitors outside temperatures and periodically compensates for their effects, through read-only memory chips (ROM’s), by acting directly on the movement’s rate. The watch’s lithium battery provides a 5-year power supply... at the end of which the Longines VHP will have gained or lost a minute at most. (LONGINES VHP).
The system was developed jointly with ASULAB and the Horological Electronics Centre (CEH).
