This “Time Equation Clock” is an exclusive design from the master clockmaker Laugerotte. It shows universal time and solar time and strikes hours and half-hours. An equation cam (one revolution every 365 days) causes the solar-time hand to diverge progressively from the pace of the universal-time hand - with the difference amounting to a number of minutes more or less. The solar-time hand is for instance ahead on November 3 by 16’24“and behind by 1L.’26” on February 11 (the extreme limits of the divergences between them). The two hands come together over zero four times a year : April 15, June 13, September 1 and December 25. A small enamel “counter” on the lower part of the dial tots up the hours. The clock’s design is inspired by architect Le Corbusier’s “Modulor”. (LAUGEROTTE, Les Breuleux)
