MB&F and L’Epée 1839 remind us how 1960s sci-fi saw the future, with a rocket-clock that comes with an 8-day power reserve and just enough empty space for our imagination to fill. Introducing Destination Moon. Conceived by MB&F and built by L’Epée 1839, it shows hours and minutes on two discs. The movement borrows the vertical structure of a real-life spaceship, with an oversized winding crown in the base. Precision is controlled by a regulator below the time display, protected by near-invisible mineral glass. In a tip of the hat to kids’ toys, the horizontal circular plates are perforated, like pieces of Meccano. Magnetically attached to the ladder that connects the power-thrusting crown to the movement is Neil the astronaut, on his way to space and all its wonders. Each of the four executions – black, green or blue PVD or palladium (silver) – is proposed as a 50-piece limited series.
