The Swatch Group tenant of historic premises in the heart of Geneva

December 2003

The Swatch Group is now officially the new tenant of part of the historic building of Pont de la Machine, situated next to the information center for the City of Geneva and also next to SIG, the city's water and electricity services, who are retaining some of the premises. The Swatch Group will start developing the site in January and plans to transform the historic building of Pont de la Machine into a platform for special events. National and international cultural events in the heart of Geneva will provide an opportunity to promote Switzerland, its artists, and its culture.

SIG, who own the premises, have always wanted them to be the venue for activities that are also open to the public. Through the medium of permanent exhibitions and special events, the concept of the Swatch Group will transform Pont de la Machine into a cultural, artistic, and sporting center. Not forgetting national and international press conferences, receptions, and special evening events for both the public of Geneva and international visitors. From new product launches and evening events through to week-long and month-long events, the center will come to life, full of resonance and benefiting from its magical location, whilst retaining the deepest respect for the history and heritage of this gem of Geneva.
