Introducing several novelties, the Swiss watchmaker has raised the level of its already impressive Rendez-Vous ladies’ collection.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous collection has been around since 2012, and it boasts some of the most impressive complications and finishing that the Maison has released for women. Previous versions have included tourbillon and perpetual calendars, which were usually complemented by precious gems thanks to the brand’s Métiers Rare (Rare Crafts) division.
The collection has just been updated, and surprise surprise, the brand has not disappointed. Adding more high watchmaking weight to the collection, now we have a new moon phase model, and a new chiming reminder function, and models that come in different case sizes and finishes.
This time around the collection was apparently inspired by the constantly changing light of the sun and the moon from the first glows of dawn to the vibrant shades of dusk. Those motifs are certainly captured well across the collection.
The Rendez-Vous Night & Day model, for example, provides beauty around the clock. The watch is available in three sizes and in a choice of materials, including yellow gold. On the larger side, we get a 38.2 mm case, which comes in a spectrum of colours, each alluding to different moments in daily life, from duck till dawn.
For those running on a tight schedule, we also have the Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large, which now boasts a new function. It chimes at the appointed hour, thanks to the new and impressive 735 Calibre automatic movement. We don’t usually see chiming functions powered by automatic movements, which makes this watch additionally unique.
Rounding off the trio is the Rendez-Vous Moon. Until recently, this complication was reserved for pieces of the finest jewellery of the Rendez-Vous collection. But the brand has decided to “democratize” this complication in a way, and has now made it a bit more easily attainable.
Available in steel or rose gold, the Rendez-Vous Moon Medium features a moon phase with finely worked geometric guilloché appearing both on the dial and on the disk that bears the moon phase itself. The exceptional 36mm timepiece is enhanced with gem setting, but more impressive is perhaps the movement, which ensures a lag time of only one day every 985 years.
Those are the kinds of figures that demonstrate that Jaeger-LeCoultre is very serious about its ladies’ timepieces. Relying on advanced complications and superb decorations and finishing, the Rendez-Vous collection once again proves that women can be well represented in haute horlogerie.
