Now in its fourth year, and a well-established fixture in the Swiss watch calendar, GTE continues to develop. The serene atmosphere reflected the innovative strongpoints of this year’s event: the choice of a new fair venue, Geneva’s Bâtiment des Forces Motrices; and the support of distinguished partners, like the specialist international auction firm Antiquorum.
Giant strides have been taken to ensure this year’s fair co-ordinates promotional activity and promotes the reputation of independent watchmakers. A prime example of this approach is the parallel exhibition being staged at Antiquorum in Geneva, featuring over fifty superb watches designed by GTE exhibitors (open through February 11).

The opening day of the Geneva Time Exhibition witnessed tremendous enthusiasm. ‘We were busy all day long!’ reports Olivier Müller, CEO of the brand Laurent Ferrier, adding: ‘We were inundated with requests from journalists, collectors and retailers — and managed to clinch some very important sales!’
Didier Decker, head of the Heritage Watch Manufactory (HWM), praised the ‘pleasant, airy, well-adapted venue’ and explained that ‘our presence at GTE reflects the unique opportunity offered by the fair to host clients in a context where synergy is the watchword.’
GTE organizers will be reserving a final judgment until the last day of the fair — Thursday 24 January 2013 — when exhibitors’ results will shed light on this year’s trends.
Thursday January 24 also sees GTE open its doors to the general public (10am-5pm), offering timepiece enthusiasts the perfect opportunity to slake their thirst for fresh knowledge about the latest craftsmanship and ingenuity displayed by today’s finest independent watchmakers.
