The buzz from the launch of the “Quantième Perpétual au grand balancier” by young brand based in Alpnach has barely subsided and already Martin Braun is presenting a tourbillon version of this model at BaselWorld 2012.

The new model stands out thanks to its regulator-type time display, with separate dials for the hours (10 o’clock) and minutes (circumferential), as well as a retrograde hand for the date at 3 o’clock and vertical windows for displaying the day and month between which is a small dial indicating the leap year cycle.

But the eye is naturally drawn to the large flying tourbillon visible at 6 o’clock, partly because it is unusually large (it has a diameter of 14.1 millimetres, yet weights only 0.62 grammes) and partly because it is positioned as close to the glass as possible (leaving only enough room for the minute hand to pass above it).

The hand-wound movement has a power reserve of six days and operates at the relatively low frequency of 2.5 Hertz (18,800 beats per hour) with an escape wheel, impulse pin and pallet lever made out of silicium. It can be adjusted using two half-round-head screws in 18-carat gold.

The two models available are in 18-carat rose gold with a genuine brown Louisiana alligator leather strap and 18-carat white gold with a black Louisiana alligator leather strap.
