Contrejour Paris leaves nothing to chance

April 2010

In French, contre-jour means ‘against the light’. It refers to photographs taken when the camera is pointing at a light source – the sun, or a bright window. The result is that the subject is seen in shadow. The image is mysterious yet impossible to resist. The viewer looks closer, wanting to know more. The brand Contrejour Paris was named so because it has a similar ambiguity. The company’s timepieces are functional, but they are also a form of jewellery. Made in limited quantities to the highest technical and design standards, they remain affordable. Designed in Paris, they are made by skilled craftsmen employed only after many months of research and testing.

Today's customer faces a choice between affordable fashion watches that offer a famous brand name but maybe less in the way of quality and creativity, or luxurious pieces that often offer exceptional style and innovation, but at a higher price. Contrejour wanted to create models that were both eye-catching and accessible. A collection that would be fashionable, without following fashion. As a result, the company has created a new category.
