José María Sapena passed away this week in Barcelona after a long illness. He started his career as a designer, after having trained at the prestigious Massana School of the Condal City. A disciple of Pertegaz, José María took his first steps in the world of fashion at “Moda del Sol” (Fashion of the Sun) the first study of Spain at the beginning of the 1970s.

In 1993 José María became the editor of the Spanish edition of Europa Star, an activity that he carried out until last year.

The management and the staff of Europa Star, in association with our international readers, wish to express their deepest condolences to the family for the irreparable loss of José María, our long time friend and a great contributor to the excellence of Europa Star.

Carles Sapena, José María's brother, is the current Editor of Europa Star Spain.
