Record price of 1'244'800 CHF / 1'131'636 USD achieved for an exceptionally rare Patek Philippe wristwatch at Antiquorum's Geneva Auction.
Antiquorum, the world's leading watch auctioneer, realized an impressive total of 6'520'180 CHF / 5'927'436 USD for its auction “Important Collector's Wristwatches, Pocket Watches, Pocket Watches, Clocks and Horological Tools”. Of the 331 lots, 80% were sold, representing 134.62% in value.
The May Antiquorum auction held at the Grand Hotel Kempinski enjoyed a standing room only crowd with overflow in both lobby and annex rooms. The mood was upbeat and the bidding high spirited.
The top-selling lot of the auction was the Patek Philippe, Ref. 1436 (lot 161) stainless steel split-seconds chronograph, one of only two stainless steel split-seconds watches known to exist today. This extraordinary timepiece, sold to a European collector, attained
1'244'800 CHF / 1'131'636 USD, breaking a world record, after fierce in room and telephone bidding.
