Carlo Gianferro: Winner of the 2008 International Photography Prize

The winner of the 3rd edition of the RW Club International Photography Prize has just been announced: Italian photographer Carlo Gianferro, 38, whose extraordinary creativity and profound, highly original works deeply impressed the RW Club jury.

The RW Club, open to all connoisseurs of fine horology and culture, has proved a great success since its launch in 2006. Each year, its International Photography Prize offers young photographers – both amateur and professional – a chance to express their creativity.

The RW Club International Photography Prize is already an established feature on the contemporary photography scene, enjoying the backing of numerous high-profile international partners – including the Aperture Foundation, Paris Photo, Artforum, Art India, The Jam Jar and www.photographie.com.

Italian Photographer Carlo Gianferro wins 3rd Edition

This year the International Photography Prize was won by Carlo Gianferro, a self-taught photographer based in Rome. The jury – comprising Pierre Keller, Yves Aupetitallot and Bruno Delavallade along with Raymond Weil Marketing Director Elie Bernheim – was moved by the Gianferro's photographs of human communities in Eastern Europe.

This year the RW Club will again assist the Prize Winner in his photographic career. Apart from a scholarship of $15,000, Carlo Gianferro will be supported by the Geneva watchmaker in the following ways:

- An exhibition of his work on the Raymond Weil stand at the World Watch & Jewelry Show – Baselworld 2009.

- A solo exhibition in a leading art gallery in a capital of the international art world.

- Travelling exhibitions across the world as part of Raymond Weil press and VIP events.

- A page devoted to the photographer and his work on www.raymondweil.com
