J. Merrick Taggart new president of Victorinox Swiss Army, Inc

Charles Elsener, President Victorinox AG, announced last week the appointment of J. Merrick “Rick” Taggart to the post of President Victorinox Swiss Army, Inc. (VSA) replacing Sue Rechner. Taggart was formerly the President and CEO of VSA from 1995 through 2001.Since 2001 Taggart has managed a number of entrepreneurial ventures as well as taught at Mesa State College, Grand Junction, Colorado, as a professor of marketing.

“Rick Taggart was a key contributor to the positive growth the company experienced during his tenure, and I am confident that his passion for the brand and his knowledge of our products will be the foundation for continued success of the VSA team” said Elsener. Elsener added that Taggart will continue the company’s current strategies.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to return to an iconic brand for a second time. While there has been tremendous growth and innovation, Victorinox Swiss Army’s commitment to quality, precision and inspired design has remained consistent. I look forward to leading the company to continued success” said Taggart.

Taggart will report to Charles Elsener and will be based in the VSA North American headquarters in Shelton, Connecticut.
