Christie's launches auctions online

July 2006

Auction house Christie's International has launched a real-time multimedia Web site that allows users to participate in auctions through the Internet.

Christie's Live uses real-time audio and video and provides bidding instructions so that users can “virtually” attend Christie's auctions taking place throughout the world, according to a press release issued Wednesday.

Accessible through Christie's main Web site, www.christies.com,; Christie's Live will remain in an introductory phase through the next six months, used for select sales in New York and London.

Those who wish to use Christie's Live to participate in an auction must register and receive a paddle number for the sale at least two business days preceding the sale.
