November 8, 2005 is a day to remember. On this day – just before the Masters Cup – Maurice Lacroix held a grand get-together meeting in Shanghai, making Shanghai Pudong Tennis Center on that night a convergence place of sparkling stars and boundless brilliance. When the World No. 1 tennis player Roger Federer, since June 2004 official ambassador of the Swiss watch brand, Philippe C. Merk, CEO of Maurice Lacroix, famous main-land star Miss Huang Yi, and hundreds of Maurice Lacroix watch dealers as well as media friends from China and other parts of Asia gathered together and took part in this grand event.
Unlike any ordinary get-together meeting, a skillful utilization of venue, decoration and back-ground makes the whole event site unrestrained by limitations of space and region. At the very beginning of the evening, guests are surrounded by a world of light and shadow as in Las Vegas, the glamorous American city. With the elapsing of time, the scenery changes and the guests feel as if they were at the traditional British Wimbledon Tennis Center, where Roger Federer cel-ebrated this year his third successive victory. Enhanced by drum beating performance in typical Chinese flavor with western touch, people’s enthusiasm gradually rose – when the tennis player shows up, the atmosphere at the site reached the boiling point. The Swiss tennis star willingly takes up the job and makes a show of his skills for the enthusiastic audience. To show her appreciation, Huang Yi is obliged to sing one of her newest songs for the Maurice Lacroix brand ambassador.
If guests are thrilled by the opportunity to take a group photo with their idol Roger Federer during the event, then the good fortune of Huang Yi makes all the guests envious: on behalf of Maurice Lacroix, the Swiss tennis player personally gave a watch to the young Chinese star as a gift, which creates another climax for the event. Finally, to thank Roger Federer for his support to this time’s event, Maurice Lacroix presented him a specially made tennis racket carved with a Chinese dragon, wishing him to continue his dominance on the tennis court for the rest of his career.
