An international jury, including watchmaking experts, journalists, retailers and historians, selected TAG Heuer’s Diamond Fiction from among the 10 short-listed timepieces presented by the world’s most prestigious watchmakers nominated in the Ladies’ Watch category, ex aequo with the brand “Van Clef & Arpels”.

This was the third time in five years that TAG Heuer has won a Grand Prize, considered to be the most prestigious honour that can be conferred in the world of luxury watchmaking. In 2002, the jury gave the Design Watch award to the Microtimer F1, the first Swiss wrist chronograph accurate to 1/1000th of a second. In 2004, the same prestigious prize was awarded to the TAG Heuer Monaco 69, a reversible model combining a manual-winding mechanical movement with a digital movement. Initially designed as concept watches, these two models were marketed with great success and feature in the TAG Heuer catalogue of the brand’s most legendary timepieces since the founding of the firm in 1860.

TAG Heuer’s Diamond Fiction is a dazzling blend of designer jewellery and avant-garde watchmaking

With Diamond Fiction, TAG Heuer has boldly reaffirmed its unparalleled know-how in design and avant-garde technology, offering the Swiss ladies’ watchmaking world a new legendary masterpiece that perfectly embodies the brand’s “Sport and Glamour” philosophy.

This exceptionally innovative high-fashion timepiece was initially designed as a unique tribute to Uma Thurman, to celebrate her beauty, forcefulness and commitment as TAG Heuer brand ambassador. In June 2005, the Hollywood star wore it for the first time in Paris during a special presentation of the 2005/06 TAG Heuer Women’s collections featuring diamond-studded versions of the TAG Heuer Formula 1, Aquaracer and Link series.

After the incredible success enjoyed by this extraordinary timepiece, and at the request of connoisseur collectors with a passion for exclusive timepieces, TAG Heuer decided to produce three other pieces in its workshops. All three, costing over 100,000 euros each, have already been sold and are soon to be delivered.

Telling the time with diamonds… a truly dazzling idea!

Diamond Fiction is unlike any other ladies’ watch, being more a fine designer bracelet set with 879 Top Wesselton 5.8 carat, full-cut, VS/SI (1.1 mm) diamonds.

This pure, precious, glittering and opulent jewel conceals a surprising innovation: the first digital display reflected through diamonds! Just press a button and 54 of the 879 diamonds –cut using a state of the art technique to focus the light emitted by 54 LEDs (light-emitting diodes) – display the hour and minutes in red in extremely high definition, as if by magic. The red display is brilliantly set off by the satin bracelet which accentuates the force and beauty of this truly awe-inspiring timepiece. Both a fine piece of jewellery and a feat of high technology, Diamond Fiction is a diamond-studded dream combining feminine grace and an aura of seductiveness – a cult, haute couture timepiece and the standard bearer for TAG Heuer’s ladies’ ready-to-wear lines featuring mother-of-pearl and diamonds, available in the TAG Heuer Formula 1, Link, Carrera and Aquaracer series.
