OMEGA

April 2005

The Seamaster Planet Ocean comes in two case sizes – 45.5 and 42 mm and are equipped with Omega’s excellent and revolutionary Calibre 2500 Co-axial Escapement movement with a 48-hour power reserve.
The new Planet Ocean comes with a classical bezel in black or with a more contemporary look in orange that takes the timepiece into the more trendy and colourful category of sports’ watches.
The bezel is unidirectional and has minute graduations for the first fifteen minutes and numbers for the subsequent ten-minute sectors. There is a screw-in crown and a screw-in caseback giving the watch water-resistance to 600 metres. At 10 o’clock on the side of the case is a screw-in helium escape valve embossed with ‘He’ the chemical symbol for the inert gas. The valve allows any helium atoms that may have penetrated the watch during compression in a diving bell to escape during decompression and so avoids any damage to the watch. There is a
mat black lacquered dial+ with luminous hour markers and Arabic numerals and a date aperture at 3 o’clock. The facetted arrowhead hour and minute hands are also luminous as is the seconds hand with its orange pointer.
