A Vacheron & Constantin “George V Royal Presentation, Aviators Chronograph” was made in the 1920s on special order for the English Crown in 1925 and presented to Admiral Richard Byrd in commemoration of his 1926 Arctic Expedition. This historically important, and possibly unique, oversized wristwatch with co-axial single button chronograph, is estimated between CHF 400,000 - 600,000 / ¤ 300,000 - 400,000.
The catalogue will be arranged in themes such as “English Horology”and “Breguet”. One of them shall be dedicated to watches made for the Indian market, which at a certain time demanded both technically complicated- and richly decorated watches. One spectacular example is the diamond-set pocket watch “Nizam of Hyderabad” - Watch with 7 Complications, attributed to Henri Grandjean & Cie, Swiss, made for Marcks & Co. Ltd, Bombay & Poona, circa 1900 and sold to the Sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, who at the time was a well known and sophisticated watch collector in India and one of the richest men in the world. This magnificent, astronomic, minute repeating pocket watch, accompanied by a diamond chain, counts no less than 1,150 diamonds with the largest weighing 14,50 carats and is estimated between CHF 800,000 - 1,000,000 / ¤ 500.000 - 650,000. In the Breguet chapter collectors will find a masterpiece the “Pendule astronomique” made in 1817 by Breguet & Fils; one of only two known examples .
