lending historical influences with modern design, the Chronodate fuses the rich heritage of the Angelus brand and its legacy of contributions to Swiss watchmaking with its current identity: contemporary, technical and ultra-dynamic, featuring a multi-material and multi-structure case.
The Chronodate complication pays homage to the brand’s early achievements in 1935, when it helped pioneer double push-piece chronograph wristwatches.
Building on the debut edition, three new unlimited references are introduced, showcasing a 42.5 mm case that perpetuates the neo-retro spirit of these sporty chronographs.
- A jet-black dial accentuates the aesthetics of the Chronodate Gold and Chronodate Titanium. The latter is also available with a fern-green dial that perfectly complements the satiny grey of the titanium. The A-500 calibre is housed in a carbon composite container, which is encased in a 5N red-gold or titanium case middle.
The A-500 calibre is housed in a container machined from a matt black carbon-fibre composite, which also features in the ring between the case middle and bezel.
The chronograph push-pieces, also made from carbon composite, are applied directly to the case.
Surrounding this container, Angelus has devised an attachment system comprising an openworked cradle that unifies the case middle and lugs into a single line, crafted from 5N red gold or titanium.
This system also accommodates the bezel, marked with 12 notches and constructed from the same metals.
The Chronodate’s prominent chronograph counters, which offer optimal readability, are set on a deep black dial aptly described as “velvet black”, or a subtle shade of “fern green”. All dials are accentuated with large applied Arabic numerals coated with Super-LumiNova™.
The A-500 calibre, oscillating at a frequency of 4 Hz, incorporates a column wheel and a horizontal coupling clutch to maintain a slender profile.
It functions via a self-winding mechanism with an oscillating weight shaped like a capital letter “A” above a star – the Angelus emblem, representing a bell and its clapper – a nod to the early days of Angelus in the heart of the mechanism.
