he “Crazy Eyes” timepiece follows the line of avant-garde watches of the Alexander Shorokhoff brand. It surprises us with new, artistic design ideas and colours. Alexander Shorokhoff’s fantasy to honour the inspiration of the artistic and unique works of Gustav Klimt in his watch has now become a reality. This watch is the first model made exclusively for the 30th anniversary of the Alexander Shorokhoff watch manufacture.
Different sized “eyes”, worked out in very different colours, are the main concept of the dial’s composition. They are somewhat lifted from the dial and transmit a sense of joy, enthusiasm and mobility, literally dancing on the scene of the shiny dial. The side second and minute hands are also designed in the form of cheerful multicolored eyes. As for the hour markers, they have monochrome yellow gold-plated small and cold-looking eyes. The watch was therefore purposefully named “Crazy Eyes”.
The other elements of the dial, with their special shape and colors, complement the whole composition of the AS movement. As the dial consists of several layers, many different applications and different materials such as mother of pearl, brass, illuminants and several colors were used.
The number 60 remains where it belongs on all Alexander Shorokhoff watches and is also symbolic here for the 60 minutes of an hour and the up-and-coming time of the arts in the 1960s. In combination with the avant-garde crazy face, a matching bracelet was created: a stingray leather strap in a striking and bright yellow color. The case also fits into the warm color scheme in a variation with a yellow gold-plated case. The familiar look with a stainless steel case is additionally retained.
The movement used is the robust and very reliable Poljot caliber 3133, which is partially skeletonized, hand-engraved and refined in the watch manufactory Alexander Shorokhoff. It is constructively based on the Swiss Valjoux 7734 movement and was produced at the First Moscow Watch Factory from 1976 to 2004.
In the meantime, production has been discontinued. Additionally, this chronograph offers a stopwatch with totalizing function, which can be activated with the upper pusher. The lower pusher returns the second hand to its original position.
