• This increase didn’t happen overnight, though. It peaked from 2015 to 2017 as the final result of a long period of record-setting auctions, blogs, and social media posts that made the watch famous beyond the world of high-end watch collecting.
• Most of the excitement and the big increase in value is probably due to the “Paul Newman,” a special and very rare version of the vintage Daytona from the 1960s.

• Even though the Speedmaster Moonwatch is one of the most iconic and popular models, several reference numbers are still relatively affordable. For example, you can currently find the ref. 3570.50.00 for around €2,900.
• Nevertheless, there are, of course, pieces that have significantly increased in value. One example is the ref. 145012: What cost €3,000 nine years ago now costs almost €8,000. This may be attributed to the general popularity of the Speedmaster, which has gained a huge number of passionate fans, and the fact that the ref. 145012 was the last model to feature the Lemania-based caliber 321.
• If you are looking for a vintage example with the potential to appreciate in value in the future, we suggest ref. 145022. With an average price of around €5,000, it is still something of a hidden gem and might be worth a lot more in the not-too-distant future.

• For passionate watch collectors, the most interesting Patek Philippe Nautilus is the one that started it all: the ref. 3700/1. Like the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Nautilus was designed by the legendary Gérald Genta.
• Its current average price on Chrono24 is over €70,000. It’s important to note that, for important vintage watches like this, various factors—for example, being in mint condition or if it’s a full set with the box and papers—have a strong influence on the price. In fact, most of the pieces on Chrono24 are listed as “price on request.” That means the price of a specific example in good condition can easily be higher than the average price of €70,000.
• However, the Nautilus was never cheap to begin with. Before 2014, it demanded an average price of between €20,000 and €24,000.
