n admission-free marketplace for vintage watches and jewellery, open to the public. For those who dream of owning and those who want to buy, more than 40 Italian and foreign exhibitors will be at VO Vintage, organised by Italian Exhibition Group at Vicenza Expo Centre from 5th to 8th September. In addition to the wonders of vintage jewellery and “cult” watches, IEG has programmed two days of talks for Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th with experts in the field: during their talks connoisseurs such as Michele Mengoli, Giorgione and Andrea Foffi will be sharing their expertise and passion with those approaching the world of vintage for the first time, as well as providing new inspiration for experienced collectors.
The talks will include the Saturday 6th appointment with journalist and writer Michele Mengoli, editor-in-chief of Watch Insanity, Jacopo Giudici founder Watch Insanity, Bruno Bergamaschi, aka Giorgione, a leading figure on the Italian watchmaking scene, Andrea Foffi, owner of Vintage Watches and Cars, Marco Cesari, co-founder of Perusia Watches, and Antonio Nocco, a point of reference in Parma for enthusiasts of vintage and collectible watches. Other aspects of the topic will also be explored on Saturday. Independent collecting will be discussed with Dody Giussani, editor of the monthly magazine L’Orologio and creator of the podcast Laboratorio together with podcaster Pietro Pannone, and Jacopo Spangaro from the eponymous auction house.
And collecting is not all there will be in Vicenza. Marcello Binda, watch entrepreneur, will explain how to recreate the identity of a historic brand such as Wyler Vetta. Meanwhile, the Locman brand will be staging an exhibition to guide the public through iconic models such as the “Teseo Tesei”, created in collaboration with the Italian Navy, and the “Ducati D120”, a chronograph dedicated to the 2021 MotoGP victory, as well as the collaboration with OISA 1937 for 100% Italian mechanical movements. Sunday will feature events dedicated to more technical issues for those who already own a few collector’s items and want to treat them in the best possible way. Maintenance will be discussed with Bologna-based expert Irene Baiardi, who will provide general information on the world of vintage watches; Dody Giussani and expert Giovanni Varesi will also discuss how to distinguish originals from restorations.
From «cult» watches to jewellery from the Dolce Vita era and, going even further back, pieces from the Belle Époque or even the Victorian age. Rings, necklaces and brooches embellished in an array of gold and silver masterpieces adorned with diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, coral, pearls, onyx and opals, which can be found in the windows of important dealers such as E.L.A. Antichità, Gioielleria Faelutti, Italian Vintage Jewellery, Scala Gioielli and the new entry from the Netherlands, EL & L Finery by Lisa Van Der Plas. As for watches, Andrea Foffi’s Vintage Watches and Cars, Antonio Nocco’s Il Quadrante, Marco Cesari’s Perusia Watches and Spangaro Watches, and others, will all be back in Vicenza.
The Spangaro auction house will be presenting VO Vintage with a preview of its upcoming auction of fine watches, including pieces accessible to those new to this world, to be held on 27th September at a location in Venice that, in keeping with the itinerant format characteristic of the young Udine- based auction house, is still secret.
All meetings will be held in the Canova Room, accessible by escalator or lift on the first floor (Hall 8.1), after security checks.
